A pedestrian was killed in a collision with an ambulance en route to hospital in Redhill on Thursday morning, Surrey Police have confirmed.
A spokesman said that officers are appealing for witnesses after the “single vehicle collision” involving a South East Coast Ambulance vehicle and a 40-year-old woman.
Police officers, paramedics and the fire service attended the scene on Brighton Road in Redhill at around 9:20am.
The Surrey Police spokesman added: “Sadly, despite best efforts of paramedics, a 40-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from officers.”
Brighton Road was closed northbound and officers remained at the scene on Thursday afternoon.
