Crusaders have confirmed that Jordan Forsythe has been placed on the transfer list at the player’s request.
The midfielder, who is being linked with a move to big spending Glentoran, has been made available to other clubs after turning down a new improved contract at Seaview.
In a statement the Shore Road club said: “Crusaders Football Club can confirm that Jordan Forsythe has rejected new improved contract terms with the club.
“We have therefore reluctantly accepted Jordan’s request to be placed on the transfer list.”
The 30-year-old joined the Crues six years ago after a goal-laden spell with Bangor where he was named Championship Player of the Year.
He had signed a new deal with the club in 2019 but efforts to tie the player down long-term have clearly failed.
The versatile midfielder made 30 appearances last season, scoring three times in the Danske Bank Premiership.
Crusaders supporters have been taking to social media to vent their frustration at the news.
One fan posted: “Shocking. One of the best players we have.”
Another added: “An absolute star. We should be doing all we can to keep him.”
Forsythe was in the starting line-up for Saturday’s 3-1 friendly win over Championship side Loughgall.
