Athletics Northern Ireland has six athletes at the Tokyo Olympics who will compete across a range of track and field events.
Carmen Runners’ Eilish Flanagan will race in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase on Sunday, August 1 in Round 1.
The European Cross Country team Silver Medallist set her Northern Ireland record of 9:40.68 in May in Eugene, Oregon.
She secured her place in Tokyo with a second place finish at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meet in Lucerrne.
Next up is Portaferry’s Ciara Mageean who will compete in the Women’s 1500m Round 1 on Monday, August 2.
The three-time European Medallist finished in 10th place at the 2019 World Championships where she set her NI record time of 4:00.15.
NI Commonwealth Bronze Medallist Leon Reid will run in the Men’s 200m in Round 1 on Tuesday, August 3.
Saturday, August 7 will see three of NI’s athletes, Paul Pollock, Kevin Seaward, Stephen Scullion, represent Team Ireland in the Men’s Marathon.
