1. Hospital figures for Covid cases ‘misleading’

One in four patients classed as a Covid hospitalisation is being treated for other reasons, official data reveal, prompting claims that the public has been misled.

For the first time, the NHS national stocktake establishes how many patients categorised as Covid hospitalisations had another primary cause of admission. The data shows that of 5,021 patients this week classed as hospitalised by Covid, 1,166 were admitted for other reasons. Read the full story.

2. Asos brings in lawyers to tackle sex harassment claims

Asos, the online fashion giant, has appointed an external law firm to investigate allegations of sexual harassment.

The decision was taken after anonymous posts were published on Instagram in the spring, accusing the £3.8 billion company of being a “boys club” where inappropriate behaviour had occurred. Read the full story.

3. Russia and China accused of posing daily threat from space

Russian and Chinese activity in space is causing daily threats, the Chief of the Air Staff has revealed.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston said Moscow and Beijing were engaging in “questionable” activity such as flying satellites within “close proximity” of others, as well as more “dangerous activity” that could destroy other satellites, on a daily basis. Read the full story.
